Who said crime doesn’t pay?

In Athens, Greece a young lady driver was waiting for the traffic light to turn green the moment an apparent beggar approached her vehicle.
This man took her by surprise when he forced half of his body through the car window in an attempt to grab her bag from the passenger seat.
Despite him striking her in the face the lady found the strength to escape her predator. She pressed the accelerator and drove off. Half of the thief’s body was hanging out of the car before he finally went tumbling on the road. Despite her shock the lady pulled over to notify the police.
‘What happened here?’ the police officers asked as soon as they saw the thief laying in the middle of the road.
‘This man tried to steal my bag,’ she cried in an attempt to explain her frightening experience.
‘You are responsible for the injury of a civilian,’ the officers immediately concluded as they placed her under arrest.
The victim was escorted to a nearby precinct while the thief was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.
At the precinct, despite the testimony of two eyewitnesses the duty officer decided to place the unfortunate lady in custody.
‘What was I supposed to do?’ the lady cried in a state of shock.
‘The proper procedure was for you to remain calm and wait for the authorities to arrive,’ the commanding officer announced before he went on to inform her that the victim has been granted the right to press charges and demand compensation before a court of law!
Reports state the thief suffered no major injuries. His lawyer announced he is suing the lady driver for 150,000 euros!
